Citizenship Changes:
At the end of February the newly-elected Liberal government introduced Bill C-6 to undo some of the changes made by the Conservatives last year, in many ways restoring the previous system, while keeping some logical provisions.
Some highlights:
-Physical presence for 3 out of 5 years, instead of 4 out of 6
-Physical presence as a temporary resident counted as half time up to 1 year credit
-Ages 18-54 must pass knowledge and language tests, instead of 14-64
-Must file income tax in 3 of last 5 years
